wake on motorcycle
i always try to keep things "positive" on this blog by avoiding subject matter that reflects negatively on bikers and/or our lifestyle(s)- especially accidents, deaths, etc. but today i ran across an article about the wake for a murdered young rider in puerto rico that i found fascinating. not sure if the deceased had specified being embalmed and mounted on his bike for the viewing should he parish, but his family decided this was the way to go. having attended a myriad of viewings in my day, i can honestly say 'i aint never seen nothing like this': certainly puts the 'memorable' in memorial service.

bike week(s)
i am getting everything ready to head south for myrtle beach bike week-or what's left of it! it's sad that one of the country's oldest rallies has been so down-sized because the dollar bills of 300,000 bikers are not good enough for the town of myrtle beach...interesting point in history to decide to limit revenue...i am still going, and so are a lot of people to the myrtle beach spring fling because the weather is good, the people are nice and the rides are great: just not going near actual myrtle beach (again). there are a lot of places that welcome bikers with open arms, however!
myrtle beach spring fling: may 7-16 you are not welcome here
black bike week: may 22-25 you are also not welcome here
laconia motorcycle week: june 12-20
gettysburg bike week: july 8-11 been here: needs work

hayabusa gets new mirror(s)
i installed new larger mirrors to replace the tiny cool ones that came with the hayabusa... promptly knocked the bike over while re-loading it into the trailer and broke the right side one off. the new one arrived today and i put it on again.

pollen count
i guess i could wear a respirator underneath my full face helmet-it might look too scary worn with the skid lid-, but damn: i am hoping this rain will drop the pollen count down a few notches! it is a bit better since i had the big oak tree in my yard cut down last year, but when the spore count goes up to 4000, i aint riding.

rossi wins again
motogp is so cool and scary: i dont know why they dont have more races in the states. the motogp 2010 season began today in qatar (found out this week qatar is not pronounced like i thought, btw), and valentino rossi won his 104th race while jamming a yamaha m1.
