i had lunch with a guy today who drag races motorcycles...all except one. he told me he would let me give it a try later this spring...when the snow melts.
we got about 45" of snow from the blizzards of 2010. the motorcycle trailer appears to be sitting about 2 feet lower on the back side. I think I will just ignore it for now and maybe it will melt down on it's own.
we got 30 inches of snow last weekend during the 2010 blizzard, phase 1. i had to dig trails for the dog so he could take a piss. now its snowing again with 10-20 inches expected...and the 50 mile per hour winds make me glad i put the busa in the trailer with the harley...unless the roof caves in. i live in dc not in colorado: this is ridiculous.
i had to pick the harley up from old glory saturday: it was there for a gas tank recall and i had a back rest put on. i left the second the snow started, but by the time i was headed home with the bike, the beltway was dicey. when i got home, the driveway was so slick i had a helluva time getting the trailer back in. the busa was covered in snow.
i love this custom super cafe racer from taimoshan cycle works. builder john pellow used a replica norton frame with a 1000cc aprilia rsv engine, combined with a ducati front end, wheels and brakes, honda swingarm and various custom parts.
i was looking for a video of motorcycle stunting on rockville pike when i stumbled on this one of drag races at budd's creek in december. not missing this next year: so cool.
a conceptual response to the airhead motorcycle is romain herment's design for a nuclear powered one, the motorbike 2050, version 2. this concept bike drinks 1 liter of water for 100 km drive and uses deuterium and tritium for power. futuristic fusion!
designer mathew perez of the virginia tech transportation institute dreamed up this air-powered concept motorcycle to commute back and forth to work. read about his airhead engine design on the kneeslider.
artist jeff decker produces amazing motorcycle art. he fabricated a large scale piece for the Timpanogos Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership, and when they filed for bankruptcy last year, they listed decker's piece as a $100,000 asset. problem is, decker only loaned it to the shop: they didnt own it. so, he took it back new year's day weekend. no charges have been filed while the investigation continues.
saw this awesome virtual concept bike on one of my favorite motorcycle blogs, the kneeslider. this guy built a pretty badass idea around a subaru wrx engine.
in case you missed the red bull craziness on new year's eve, here it is again: Travis Pastrana, phenom freestyle motocross and rally racer, sets the world record with a 269 foot jump in his rally car and then back flips into the long beach harbor. extreme.
this past week I left the bikes in the trailer, and headed down to Cape Charles, Virginia with two of my brothers and six friends for some serious rock fishing. first day out: we caught our limit quickly and headed back in at sunset...we were met at the boat ramp by the marine police who asked to review our catch: happily, we opened the coolers. sadly, we had misinterpreted the winter catch limits and all six fish fell into the 'illegal' category- between 24 and 36 inches. as captain, I was ticketed for a misdeamenor and will have to drive the six hours back for a court appearance in February. now I am angry!
the wife does a great job at thanksgiving...sometimes i like to lend a hand: im making oyster stuffing for the turkey she's grilling. yeah: she's going to try grilling the turkey this year. im going to run up to faunce's to pick up fresh oysters: you can order them from j&w seafood.
